My wired XBOne controller would not work at all with no indication why. The following post from above gave me enough info to solve my problem. I had an older logitech controller connected that works great with older games that don't work natively with modern gamepads. Unplugging that controller fixed the problem and the controller works flawlessly now. Is this a problem with the game? I don't know, I haven't noticed this issue with another program.

Links: Update on my issues with a controller: It was a conflict between two pieces of hardware (still the game's fault at some point). I copy my last message to GOG support below, and will update again if they have anything else to say.

"I was finally able to continue with this, and I can confirm the issue has something to do with the game detecting my Razer Tartarus as a controller (nothing to do with the Razer software, simply the hardware). Disconnecting the Tartarus USB cable is enough for the XBox controller to work properly in the menus and game (both by USB and Bluetooth), it is not even necessary to restart the PC.

Please try to send the information to the developer. This is the first and only game to have this issue, and I have played several games with both pieces of hardware working properly at the same time (Cuphead and Slain! from GOG, about a dozen DOS games through DOSBox emulation, and GTA V on Steam). I do not have another controller to try, but I think this issue would present itself with any other type of controller connected to the PC (one of them preventing the other from sending the commands).

I leave the request open only to see if you have anything to comment. Please feel free to close it afterwards."

I've used several other games, and they have never had any trouble with my Tartarus. I know it can be detected as a controller with axis by other games (even by DOSBox) as if it was a joystick, which is not, but that never stopped any game from accepting input from my XBox controllers. As I was saying to GOG support, it is very probable (more now with the info you provide) that any two controllers plugged in while trying to play this game will create troubles.

Zoidberg: WHAT?

I saw a review talking about the no key rebindings (which is a total dealbreaker already) but no controller support?

This IS a cheapass port.

Links: You have four posts above you saying they are playing using controllers, on top of mine of having a problem but not "no support", and you repeat the OP's statement? Are you serious?
I can't use my Xbox One controller either. I can't seem to find any option to enable or configure for controller. I love the game. It's just to difficult for me to do all of Comrad's moves with the Keyboard.

I'm going to try out Controller Companion.

There is no option to enable it, you just use it. As soon as you do, the prompts and tutorial screens change automatically to the ones corresponding to a controller.

Unless you have some other peripheral installed that is detected as a controller (mine was a Razer Tartarus), then it should work just fine.
