I have just downloaded Firmament but it will not launch - I just get the message: DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument.

You can try the following assuming win 10.

Do window + r and type dxdiag
this will confirm what version of DX you have loaded.

Do windows + r and type dxcpl (lower case L not digit 1)

If it can't be found then you need to install a optional tool.

Run settings from the main menu, select system, apps and features, manage optional features.
sellect add feature and from the list sellect graphics tools

Do windows + r and type dxcpl (lower case L not digit 1)

sellect Edit List and in the dialog find the root path to Firmament.exe
sellect force on
set feature level limit to 11_0 and check Disable Feature level upgrade. Apply and OK.

I had a similar message to yours, after I upgraded my graphics card. I replaced a 4G GeForce GTX 960 with a 12G GeForce RTX3060. The driver for the card initially said running on default MS driver ( that was when I got the error). I had to upgrade the OS to win 10 22H2 to get the proper drivers to install. And now it works.

I am running Win 11 with DirectX 12 on a 7900xtx card. My machine was built by Falcon Northwest, and is less than a year old, so it ain't my hardware or my Windows installation. My game won't launch either. Just goes black and eventually times out. Drivers are current so that's not it. I backed this on KS YEARS AGO, my third Cyan KS, and now I deeply regret it. Obduction took forever to patch. I bought their all digital pack for this on KS and yet am only credited with the standard pack on GOG.

Very disappointing. From now on I will wait, like everyone else, no more KS. No more "faith" in Cyan. No more a fan. You owe me a game, Cyan. Let's have it..

If you're seeing bugs or technical issues in Firmament, please email support@cyan.com and include the following information:

- On Windows PC: attach the dxdiag report, and attach the complete contents of your C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Firmament\Saved directory, zipped up, to the email to support@cyan.com

- On Mac: Attach screenshots of “About this Mac” page, and the Hardware and Graphics/Display, and attach the complete contents of your /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Epic/Firmament/Saved directory to the email to support@cyan.com

- Include details of the bug, with any repro steps if possible.

I bought their all digital pack for this on KS and yet am only credited with the standard pack on GOG.
Pledging on Kickstarter you would have gotten a survey via email from Cyan's reward distribution partner, Fangamer, which allowed you to choose which digital retailer you wished to get the game from. If you were not given that choice, please contact orders@fangamer to report that issue.

i had to get a new computer and now i can play
