By disabling the movies in the ini file, the game runs great under WINE. (Ubuntu Mate edition here).
Thanks for the tip, I was just going through all the new warhammer forums to ask this very question. =D

No problem!

Please don't take it as a guarantee that it'll 100% work (since it's unsupported) but WINE stuff usually doesn't vary much by distribution.
Got this running in CrossOver 14.1.4 on Linux Mint 17.1 KDE with no tweaks required whatsoever (game installed into a new WinXP bottle with no changes except emulate virtual desktop enabled)... all seems to be working perfectly, including videos :)

I don't have videos. Maybe I should try CrossOver again.
I have no videos (also not in crossover). However, it runs in a windowed mode with a very low resolution.

Videos work for me.
Do the move/fire shadow overlays work without lagging in WINE and/or other Linux distros? That's the only remaining issue I have with the game in Windows 8.1 and 10.

No, there's the same problem.
