So i got figment in a giveaway and to my surprise it was a favorite to my 6 year old. he kept asking to play it together until we completed it a week back. I bought two other games "Creaks" and "samorost 3" but they did not quite hit the spot.

can anyone recommend anything similar to figment?

Well, Figment 2: Creed Valley is clearly the most similar.
You may want to consider Carto as a possible alternative: the game is quite different, both in terms of graphic style and gameplay which is more oriented to puzzles, but you can get try the demo before buying it.
