Adding this command when launching Fez solved my "crash to desktop when continuing from a save game" problem:

FEZ.exe --singlethreaded

Hope this helps anybody else having this crash. (I'm running GOG Fez 1.07 on Win XP Sp3 and NVidia driver 296.10)
