I just purchased FEAR Platinum during this weekend's sale. I tried downloading it through the GOG Galaxy client and it looks like it wants to download 17 GB! The regular installer is only 7 GB. That's a big discrepancy.

May be that is because there are so many add ons with this version?

Had the same issue. The game downloaded normaly the 7gb. After that I clicked install and suddenly it raises to 16gb. Just stop the download and go to the download folder and manually install it from there :).

Ok, the issue is installer size vs. install size.

The installer is 7 GB. When it's installed, the game takes up 17 GB.

Since Galaxy also installs the game, one of two things is happening. Either it's only downloading the 7GB installer and just showing 17 GB to tell you the amount of space the game requires when installed, or Galaxy uses a different method to download and install games, which requires you download the uncompressed version (or the full 17GB).

Which is it? I have no clue. I don't use Galaxy.

Uncompressd list of files that is. Count that Fear1+EP is around 10 GB, PM is another 7 so total is 17 GB. Collection is provided as is by WB for distribution for whole, so they not really can put them as standalone. Steam has similar problem.

So far Galaxy does not support compression. That's why it needs much more bandwidth for the download.
