I always put slow-mo on mouse button 4 in games that have it, so I tried to doe the same in FEAR 5. Except that I can't do it. I can press those button all I want but the game doesn't register it. I tried to do this in the game's config file, but couldn't find a file with the game settings in the FEAR 2 folder.

Does anyone know what causes this and if it can be fixed? I let the installer check the integrity of the game files before I installed it and the rest of the game works fine, so my installation doesn't seem to be corrupted. My mouse also works fine with other games (e.g. FEAR 1).

If you have a Logitech mouse, try ending KHALMNPR.exe from the task manager and see if that makes a difference. Note that doing this may alter mouse functionality in Windows especially if you have something other than the default. You just need to reboot the computer or run the program again.
Thanks. While I do indeed have a Logitecj mouse, I don't seem have that process running.
This is a known problem. People suggest a program called Xmouse. You set up program specific configurations. Then you run Xmouse, select your Fear 2 configuration, and start Fear 2 (or so I imagine).

You can get it for free here:

Disclaimer: I still use a 3 button trackball (no wheel), so I have not tested it. As always, I suggest you run anything you download through a virus scan (I use virustotal).
Thanks for your help. However, I'm not going to install third-party software just to use some damn mouse button. Especially not in a game whose predecessor has that natively. That's just ridiculous.
