Hello all!

I'm quite new here, and since FEAR is currently on sale, and I'm considering buying it. However, I've heard it downloads a hard-to-remove DRM called SecuROM, and I can't find a solid, confirmed answer if it still comes with FEAR. Since it's been a few years since all of the initial posts about the issue, should I trust my gut instincts and download it anyways?

There's a thread discussing about this.

Seems like the DRM might have been removed / is a dummy install.

And some official reply from GOG regarding SecuROM files being installed, and registry entries being added, but says that they're just empty useless files, perhaps in order to get the game to run. They're working on a workaround to remove those at that time of the thread comment, but now I do not know yet if they have done so.

There is also discussion about people trying to use the SecuROM removal tool, but the tool reporting that it can't find any installation of SecuROM.

I'm also interested in buying the game, and maybe run LAN games, so I'm trying to piece together the information.
