I just finished Far Cry, and it was the first time I ever played it. And I must say this is one of the top 10 games I have ever played!

I understand some points people are making about the Trigens, they make the game really hard in some areas. But I found that if I changed my tactics I could still play through. So the game forces the player to constantly figure out new ways of playing. And that is the part I love about Far Cry.
Well, problem is - it's hard in a boring way. Keyword - boring. Hey, a large pack of enemies and your only option is to hide and slowly pick them one by one. Oh, large group of mutants! Your only option is to make them stuck and shoot small piece of hitbox, while they can't reach you (final level). By the end of the game this type of difficulty is just getting boring.

On the other hand, I find that quite challenging. :D

Rohan15: you will SURVIVE LONGER if you forget everything you did in Halo...
You haven't played any of the Halo games on Legendary and/or with the Mythic skull, have you? One of the hardest games I've ever played with that stuff on. :)

I have, not as hard as you say it is.
I think this is one of the greatest FPS games, ever. I'm shocked it's on gog, but...gog is shocking me a lot this week =)
ya me too. I actually bought this when it came out due to the little bit of coverage it was getting. I then beat the entire game.....eventually, dame there's some tough parts. But I definitely think this is one of the best fps games of the past years. Honestly, I liked it more than Crysis.

I agree. I haven't played Halo 3, but Halo 1 and 2 on legendary really aren't terribly hard, even if you try the silly things I like to do (e.g. keeping all my suicidal marines alive). Admittedly, it made a lot more difference in Halo 2, and made the game both challenging and a lot better . . . but it was entirely doable, even though I'm awful at using console controllers.

That said, many parts of Far Cry aren't all that difficult no matter what the level, but the ability of normal enemies to pose a real challenge in the right tactical landscape does give it a different feel. Between Far Cry's hard parts with mouse and keyboard and Halo 2's with controllers, I'm not sure which is harder [it's been a while] . . . but if I had mouse+keyboard for Halo 2, I don't think there'd be much question.

Still, I read his original comment not as a reference to difficulty so much as a statement of the simple fact that you do have to play quite *differently* - one glaringly obvious reason is that in Halo, you can strategically take a few hits over and over so long as you have time to recharge your shield; this enables tanking in some situations if you're a good shot and skilled at finding cover on the fly. Far Cry has no such option, and on realistic you can't afford to take many hits at all. The two games are designed for and require very different play-styles. (I do tend to play everything in a sniper-focused way, but Halo lets me do that on the run, among other things.)

Edit:
on reflection, I'm pretty sure the hardest parts of Halo 2 took me more time to beat, but I really do put a lot of that down to my complete lack of controller skills; much of the time I died because I failed to get off or misplaced a critical shot. Given how ridiculously much easier I found Halo 1 on the PC than on the console, I strongly suspect that the toughest Halo 2 battles would be less problematic than a couple painful fights from Far Cry.

THANK YOU! And if anything, Killzone 2 on easy is harder than Halo on Legendary.
It's tough, but nothing you can't handle if you can play Halo on legendary; just sneak around and stick with the silenced mp5 and you good
I've had my ass handed to me too often so yes, it is hard; but not as hard as the real thing! I have too much respect for real warriors (A navy seal would laugh at this game's "Difficulties") to even think about complaining on the difficulty of this game. Time to use your brain, and not your balls if you want to survive this world...Much like real life eh?

I hear ya takezodunmer20 you also like realistic shooter games that are not all about being a bullet sponge.
The Far Cry series is awesome, hands down.

Far Cry was fun and over the top, but Far Cry 2 is just fantastic.
I had always been under the impression that it was listed as one of the most important sandbox FPS's?

some game companies bathe themselfs with a bullet sponge every night! and when they clean their ears, they use a cue tip tipped with a grendade!
