I finally got around to starting up Far Cry 1 after buying it some time back, and it seems to work fine through the initial tunnel section, but as soon as I stepped outdoors it began to freeze for several seconds at a time. The game appears to be running still because I could hear one of the bad guys shouting and shooting at me, but it would just play a few frames and then freeze for a few more seconds.

Anyone else seen this and know of a solution?

This is on Windows 7 x64 with an i7-3770 and GTX 660.

There is a x64 patch available, I am not sure if the GOG installer already has it included. The pinned thread has more information.
