Hello all. I'm trying to play Far Cry but upon starting it up my screen goes completely black, and the only way to get control back is to start up Task Manager and force stop the game. I've heard that some people have problems with this on just the Very High graphics setting, so I tried with each of them and they all produced the same results.

Specs:
Windows 7, 64-bit
i3-2100 @ 3.1GHz
8GB RAM @ 1333 MHz
HD 6950 Graphics Card

If anyone could advise I would be very grateful.
I have the same issue but only with my AMD system. The game will eventually load, just takes a very long time :)

This is with a HD6600. My GTX660 PC doesn't have this issue.

It will also load the level only in snails pace. But eventually it will load it.

And after this the issue doesn't come back. But it might re-appear when you load another level.

It may be too late, but I just got done troubleshooting my own Far Cry crashing issues. The ultimate culprit was a new setting (not sure if this applies to drivers from two years ago) called Frame Rate Target Control. If you globally disable it, it might help fix the crashes. Otherwise, if you are using some type of GPU throttler, like maybe MSI Afterburner, that could also be playing in.

I hope this helps you!
