So according to change log update. Far Cry now comes bundled with with a fan patch by Far Out. The notes just say "added a small fix to prevent AI bots from shooting through tents (thanks to FarOut for reaching out to us)"

I've played around with some of his mods but I'm yet to test the one that comes with GOG build of the game.

I must express my gratitude to both the staff of GOG and the modder for making this happen. Thanks to FarOut for reaching out to GOG and permitting them to use your fix and thank you GOG for saving us the trouble of having to hunt down and install a separate mod to fix the otherwise broken AI.

I stopped playing this game after a while thanks to the broken AI.

There have been fan patches around for the game for many many years and I even uploaded one as a fake picture on this subforum but it is better to include a fan patch as it seems most people NEVER ever mod or use fan patches, just declare a game as shit and move to the next.

The shooting and seeing through walls was the decidedly biggest bug in the game as some may think it was supposed to be like that (it was not). The game occasionally hanging in two places (that I can remember off the top of my head) I deem to be the next worst bugs.

That is so cool if that is true. I hated the game because of the broken AI but maybe I should give it another shot. Thanks for the info.

So, can I install just the mod with the new installer?

Any mod you want on top of an already installed game you can just download just the mod from somewhere and install that.

If you're clean installing the game with the GOG installer, then yea it's just part of the game now.

Or do you already have the game installed and would like to add this without disturbing your installation and risking the loss of your saved games? You could back up the saved games or install the fix manually. As far as manual options, a search for "tent AI bug fix" will bring you to a MODDB page. By default that one is configured for singleplayer, and the GOG version is ideal for both singleplayer and multiplayer.

There's also a fan patch named 1.41 that is good for single player but it changes a few other things too.

Thanks to the GOG support team for continually adding in community fix'es to far cry. Mabye some kind of widescreen FOV fix next? You guys are the best. Also thank you to CD project Red for creating and supporting GOG.
