Haven't played FarCry 2 for quite some time, which is mainly due to how irritating I found enemy snipers and rocket launchers to be. They can spot you from such a huge distance that it just seems unrealistic. I mean, a sniper would have a massive area to survey, yet in the game they spot you as soon as you get into their range and that's the first you know about them.

So, anyone else have an opinion about the enemy sight distance? Also, anyone know if there is a way to cripple the AI with a reduced sight distance to try to compensate for this?
Equally irritating is their ability to see through thick foliage, rocks, walls, etc.
That was the reason I gave up after about 10 minutes with the original... I don't know if it was due to glitches, but being killed off by enemies from about 2 miles away whose bullets went through walls was infuriating.

Does the camo suit actually make much of a difference? I kept thinking about buying that and the silenced weapons before just buying the grenade launcher and flame thrower and playing like a complete lunatic.

The first game was a bug with the patched version that allowed enemies to see through walls. There are fixes for that, though, in the form of Doc's Unofficial Far Cry Patch 1.41, and also the FCAM mod (which I think contains the aforementioned patch).

As for Far Cry 2, from what I know the camo suit does reduce the chance of being seen but isn't perfect. There is a mod for it, though, that makes the camo suit 100% effective (unless you start shooting at the enemy or are facing them close enough for them to see you plainly). It is here - http://www.moddb.com/mods/far-cry-2-rewards - but I've not tried it yet.
