karacho: i bought it as a steam deal, so here is my opinion ater about 3 or 4 hours of gaming:
it is awesome!
i have to say something about my gaming rig first:
i have an amd dual core 3.4 ghz, 4 gig ram, and a geforce 630 gt, so its not the best pc out there, as i started the game i wasnt satisfied with the framerate, so i lowered every detail to "low" and lowered the resolution a bit
now i can play with a descent framerate and its still one of the best if not THE best looking game i played on pc
so i selected the highest difficulty setting and went out there
there are lots of those radio towers i think you already know about which you can clear and get all those olittle missions, so i already did quite a lot and i am not finished with the area around that first of those many towers
so before i go on i straightforward tell you what i really like:
- so much to do
- "stuff" just happens (unscripted)
- you can do stuff your way
an example would be, when i was on the hunt for a goat because i wanted to make a bigger wallet or a holster (one of those two, cant remember which), i saw two pirates bringing in two innocent (i suppose) people along the main road by foot, so i decided to save the two innocents and kill the other two, that went pretty straight, i sneaked up on the first and then just shot the second one
then there are lots of sidemissions where you have to kill a specific guy and stuff like that, anyway i was near the a little pool where one of those guys i had to kill for the mission was hanging aroudn with 3 or 4 more buddies, i sneaked around to get to a better position to take them out one by one, when all of a sudden a firefight broke loose, i didnt have anything to do with it, and i didnt get a good look to tell who was involved besides those pirate i had to kill and his buddies, but you bet it made my life a bit easier
its great to just stumble into situations, to be caught off guard or to find some bad guys who are unaware and kill thm without anybody noticing
planning how to approach and deciding which weapons you want to take with you and stuff like that is just great

karacho,
I really enjoyed reading through your views on this game. I've been away from GOG.com for a couple of years but I'm back again now for good. I've played Far Cry3 more times than I can remember it is such an amazing game. Some of the challenges are somewhat difficult. In particular the supply drop jetski ride through the cave systems underneath the Old Mines Outpost, I found ridiculously hard. but maybe that because it was a timed event with about a minute or so to complete it. If you don't come out of the entrance to the cave while still within 54 seconds, you won't make it to the end of the challenge. There was one night, I think it took me something like 26 goes before I managed to do it successfully! Also, the enemy AI detection is very good, difficult to sneak up on them, but then again, you and all the AIs' are probably already being keenly watched and silently stalked by a leopard anyway so anything is possible in this game, nothing is assured.
I do think however that Unplay, err sorry I meant Uplay (lol), let themselves down by not fully developing all the characrter's to evolve together as a group of survivors. We could have been shown how each member of the group viewed their situation from their initial circumstances after being captured for example and then flash forward to show how they all survived up until Jason could go rescue them. I mean, I feel like we missed out on a lot of potential storylines. For example, after the mushrooms are delivered to the doctor for Daisy's medication she wakes and tells Jason how she was captured via a convoy of baddies, where some where along the line, she passes out. How did she survive from the time she passes out until the doctor find her? it would have been great to see little snippets of how each member of the group was caught and captured by the pirates and what happens to each of them along the way until Jason rescues them all. It would have also been nice to see each survivor's perspective views change and become more survivalistic over time instead of just hiding in a cave waiting for Jason to save their arses, you know what I mean. He could of taught them all to shoot for example and given them specific tasks to help him take back the Island for the natives, while he accomplished the main missions. They should have become a well oiled machine of survivors out for revenge against the pirates and NO I'm NOT talking Multiplayer here. It just would have given the gamer a little more incentive to "want" to help and save them. They should have been more involved in their own survival.
Lastly, it would have been nice to see what happened to Liza and Jason's relationship, in the beginning Before they went on holiday, to have strained their relationship. Liza should have been made a stronger character, willing to kick arse for the man she loved, instead she just gives up and lets Citra take her man from her. No way I'd be doing that!!
We could of had an all out bitch brawl full on with hair pulling kicking, punching, cursing, the works you know, that would have been hilarious. Especially if Liza won and Jason suddenly got the hots for her again, like seeing a new side to her or something like that.
It would've made for a much more immersive game. But tha's not to say the game isn't good as is. It's awesomely replayable many times over. I just think it could've become so much more.....
