far cry 2 is a really immersive game and i love it for that.
unfortunately the smal LOD creates a lot of pop in with kinda ruins the immersion .
so i did some digging and while i never found a definitive fix i eventually found enough info to draw my own solution.
btw this fix only works if you play with the ultra high graphics preset and with direct x9.
its simple really all you have to do is edit GamerProfile.xml with you can find here %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 2 and the copy/paste the text below in between </CustomQuality> and </RenderProfile> then just save and make the file read only and you are good to go.
<Geometry>
<quality LodScale="0" id="ultrahigh" />
</Geometry>
<Shadow>
<quality SunShadowRange1="60" id="ultrahigh" />
<quality SunShadowRange0="30" id="ultrahigh" />
<quality SunShadowRange2="160" id="ultrahigh" />
</Shadow>
now if you already have a low end pc and have performance problems with this game then you might want to mess around with the numbers to help perfermance.
here is link to a post that i found really helpful in case anybody wants to mess around with the attributes.
i hope this will help some people with this problem heck i know this problem almost made me go crazy :P
