Please write your system specifications if you run FC1 at maximum quality without frame-drop, because I want to compare yours with my own, and then I'll decide to upgrade my PC. Thanks.
Im no expert when it comes to hardware, but I really doubt its a good idea to choose hardware based on how well it runs a game that was not designed to run on modern hardware.

In my experience with Far Cry, the shadows seem to be the big framerate killer. I drop it to medium and its fine. I can howerver run the more advanced Far Cry 2 at max with no issues.
OS: Windows XP
Processor: i7 - 3.4 Ghz
Memory: 16Gb (only 3gb usable in windows xp). I also dual boot into linux, which is why I have 16.
Video Card: Nvidia 9800GT

Before I got this computer, my previous computer could run Far Cry maxed out too. That had these specs:

OS: Windows XP
Processor: i5 - 3.2 Ghz
Memory: 4gb.
Video Card: Nvidia 9800GT

In both cases above I used the same video card.

And you play it without frame-drop? Anti-Aliasing + Anisotropic + highest resolution + all settings = very high?
I forgot about those things. I guess you can disregard my info then.

Here's how I play:
Anti-Aliasing = off
Resolution = 1920x1080
Anisotropic = 4x .
Other settings are on very high or ultra (if available).

Anti-Aliasing always slows games down a ton for me, so I never use it.
