It doesn't auto save any check points and quick saving doesn't work either.

How do I fix this?

Sounds like that lovely Windows BS. Do not ever install old programs in the program file folders!

When you leave the tutorial's bunker, does the game where you get to the outside above the fishing hut?

I had a problem with that and found out that a widescreen mod I was using was the culprit. Are you using any mods?

yea I was using one of the widescreen mods. not the 1.5.x patch though.
