Hi I recently bought Far Cry 1 after playing 3 on ps plus and enjoying it. However the game crashes for me even on the lowest settings even though I have specs that should let me play on ultra. However my laptop has an integrated intel HD graphics card. Will I'll be able to run with this?

Dunno if your laptop can run it, but have you tried setting the the game to Run as Administrator? This is the go-to fix right off the bat for any game being cantankerous.
I have installed Far Cry 1 in a normal way (no 'Run as Administrator') and it runs fine here. Please check that the discrete graphics card gets used while running Far Cry 1 (some laptops have a LED light for showing the status of the graphics unit in use).
FWIW, I disabled my discrete nVidia GPU (Optimus-enabled) and am running off the integrated unit. It isn't working at my laptop's full 1920x1080 resolution but it does function at 1440x900. You can play around with the video settings by running FarCryConfigurator.exe from your installation folder
