Having played and enjoyed the demo, I just bought and installed Far Cry. However when I try to start it up, it goes to a black screen, and in the background a Critical Exception window is opened up. It reads as follows:
Code: 0xC0000005
Address: 0x001B:0x38050381
Module: <Unknown>
Description:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Attempt to read from address 0x00000040
The memory could not be "read"
Call Stack Trace:
2)function=0x38050381
1)function=0x0
I've attached a screenshot of the Critical Exception window. I can't interact with it or use any of the buttons on it.
I've updated my graphics drivers, tried running as an administrator both in WinXP and Vista compatibility modes. Nothing works.
I'm trying to run it on an Asus Eee 1001PX with:
Intel Atom 1.66Ghz dual core processor
Intel GMA 3150
Windows 7 Starter
I know it's just a netbook, but I'm positive it can run Far Cry - at least it ran the demo perfectly.
Anyone got any ideas as to how I can resolve this problem?

I had a similar problem running the anti-aliasing at anything above two samples. I didn't get the error message you received, but the same 'black screen' issue. Try turning AA off or down if you have it higher than 2, and also checking the integrity of your GOG installer and perhaps reinstall.
