I'm getting killed as soon as I first run into the mercs in "training". Is there any way to go through this game that'll let me just have fun blowing away bad guys without getting my head handed to me?

You have to add some commands in the .ini files and from then on you can enable god mode by pressing backspace. Maybe it's already enabled for you, so just try toggling god mode with backspace. You'll know if it worked because it displays in green letters god mode in a corner of the screen.

Works! At least, I'm no longer getting handed my head. Anybody who tells you "Easy" mode in this game is a vacation, I suggest that you neither lend them money nor wager with them.

My kid got me started playing this game on a laptop. It was a clever ploy on his part to get me to have a heart attack. I'm damn near 50 and am tired of getting my rear-end handed to me on the Control level. So I too am looking for directions on how to enable the the cheats. I tried the backspace button but no luck. I'm looking for step-by-step instructions on how to enable the cheats. Hopefully written so a 5yr old can understand them. Thank you

Scout the place , then take them down one by one.
Don't go rambo in this game as your head will indeed be handed on a plate.
Then i would dare to say it's an easy breeze (@ easy level)
though i hate the chopper part.

Stealth works great in some areas but doesn't do a bit of good in a hallway full of those stupid mutants. I've been stuck in the same place for almost a week and am looking for something to get through this area. I'm sick of being in the same spot getting my butt kicked.
My kid set the game up on the second easiest level, and it's been doable until the spot I'm stuck in.
Anyone out there have the info I'm looking for? Thank you.

This game is easy if you know how to take advantege of all the options it gives you. Thanks to binoculars you know how many enemies are near and where they are exactly. Once you know that just sneak and eliminate them one by one. Piece of cake. It's not a game for Rambo-wannabies

Yes, stealth. Stealth that makes if harder for you to see the enemy than for them to see you. Even unto the point where they can shoot through tents.
I stopped using stealth early in the tutorial, right about the time I learned you can kill people with headshots in Far Cry as much as in any other game. I've managed to reach the last levels without hiding from anything (although I have occasionally fled). Me and my sniper rifle have proven capable of taking on most things.

Although this is probably not needed anymore, future users may find it helpful.
Easy instructions for activating Godmode:
You need to complete two Steps:
Step 1
Execute Far Cry with "-devmode" parameter:
If you Start Far Cry from your Desktop Icon, right click on it and left-click on "Properties". There is a line dubbed "Start in", which should read something like "C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe -devmode" .
If "-devmode" is missing, add it and press "Ok"
Step 2
Add Godmode Comamnd in DevMode.lua:
In the Far Cry Folder, there should be a file called "DevMode.lua". Open it with a text Editor (Right click on the file -> left click on "Open with" -> Choose Notepad.exe -> Click Ok) and add the line
Input:BindCommandToKey("#ToggleGod()","backspace",1);
(make sure the backspace key is not used for anything else in the game)
You should be able now to toggle invincibility by pressing the backspace key, if you start it with your Desktop icon.
Unfortunately I can't test it right now, since I'm not on my gaming machine.
