I don´t think these new games (>2000) should be even here. This one is for example pure mediocrity and in few years it should be forgotten forever. How can it stand next to Outcast, Gabriel Knight, Another World? Only games proven by decades should have their place on GOG.
I greatly disagree. I am quite glad that post 2000 games are on gog.com, especially since that means no drm. but also some effort at least was put into trying to get those games to work with newer operating systems. old is a subjective description, far as i'm concerned gog could sell games from the games programmed in the b programming language (if there were any) until a minute after its release. just glad to get the games i like period no matter if their age.
This argument will last decades. :P
Sigh.

What is with new users and their complaints about GOG releasing relatively recent games?

Have you ever played Fantasy General? Star General? Panzer General? Allied General? Pacific General? If you had you would realize two things: 1) They are all parts of the Five Star General series developed and produced by SSI; and 2) that Fantasy wars and Elven Lineage are both nods to those great hex-map, turn based strategy games.
Actually, If you've played Fantasy General, then you have played Fantasy Wars (the similarity in name is no accident). The new iteration just has improved graphics, stability and mechanics. I think that this game and others that hearken back to the Video Games of yore should be on GOG, because it is so clear that the developers now were fans of the developers then and that their love and respect for those venerable titles is clear.
Bearing that in mind, Fantasy Wars belongs on GOG, it's a game that has already stood the test of time, through the success and respect of it's forebears.

This game is awesome. I used to play Fantasy General when I was a kid, and my father was/is really into the WWII-themed SSI games, so having a game like this is really great, not only due to nostalgia but also because devs just don't do them anymore. They "lost" their audience, were replaced by RTS and so on, and therefore they're still unique and good in their own right.
im sorry to the haters out there, i love gog, i used to have a horrible comp, and could nt play most of the newer games out in the 2003-2007 time frame. Now i am getting all the games i read reviews about and wished i could play.......thank you gog!
I agree with the thread title that FW is not a classic up to now or at least is not at the same level of classic-ness as other games. However its good. So I see no reason to object. For me its like a successor of Fantasy General (a real classics) with too colorful graphics, an uninteresting story and a mediocre AI but fun to play. I like it alot and thank GOG for making me interested in the game.
im not happy seeing Witcher 2 here.

Hey i like no DRM feature but a game that isnt a "good ol game". SO what does GOG stand for now?

Games Outlast Greed
Games Outlived Greed

I suppose that simply don't buying the relatively modern games isn't enough for you, is it?
I don't get it, seriously, people...if they put the games here and they sell well enough to not retire them, what do you care?
I would also like to see Fantasy General here, was my favourite game in my first pc...

I completely agree, this entire argument is silly.

Just little reminder - GOG stands for GOOD OLD GAMES. I rest my case.

to be honest, I understand your point, and although I think that the game is ok, I agree with you that is obviously inferior to many games in gog...but at the rate the gog catalog is expanding, I think that it's not a bad option if you like turn based strategy...
Sorry if I offended you, perhaps my post was more "intense" that I intended, I hope you understand that english is not my native language and perhaps I didn't said it the way I was trying to...

You apparently have no idea that CDProjekt, who owns gog.com, is the publisher of the Witcher game series. Honestly do some research before making ridiculous statements.

Yes, I know this is 4 years old, still a ridiculously ignorant statement.
