Looking at the soundtrack it seems for some reason some of the tracks are almost inaudible until you turn the volume to a level where the sound effects make your ears bleed.. Even if you turn them off you still get hit with a metaphorical sledgehammer once a track with proper (compared to the sound effects) volume kicks in.

Any way to work around / fix this? I guess I can just disable the sound effects and adjust the volume as needed whenever a track changes but that just doesn't feel quite right. Besides, I miss those RRAAAAAARRs :(

This question / problem has been solved by modulo_pimage
I have two different cd versions of Fantasy General (german, english) and I searched the internet for isos before and ALL versions have this problem. However now its fixable because the gog version uses music files instead of the oncd ost that all my copies have.

I have adjusted the volumes of all the quiet tracks (by 20dB!) and converted them back to ogg(not sure if that makes a difference). For some reason Tracks 13, 14 and 15 are nearly identical. Just replace the old files with the new ones. Let me know should the volume levels be off.

This is a temporary upload only. If anybody could host this somewhere permanently it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch, that did the trick!

For now I've uploaded the fixed OST at https://www.dropbox.com/s/qizeszdfmnswzg0/fgfixedost.rar?dl=0 - it shouldn't go down any time soon.

Thanks. French old CD had this 'problem' too, if it was not intended.
It may be an error due to how the vocals had been integered to the music, with big difference of volumes (says somebody in this forum).
Thank you for the hard work!
But sadly, it seems only half the tracks are in the download you provided (from 8 to 15)
Having no idea how to do it myself, I am poking you!

Cheers!

Edit: Ah, I got it, only those tracks are dimed. For some reason, the volume was still low, and I applied the solution found in another thread to have unbutchered track by converting the OST provided by GOG. The volume is still a bit too low of the track 8 to 15, but it will make do!
