When I am playing, sometimes as I scroll my mouse over a troop, a screen comes up that looks like parchment and shows the details of that unit (name, melee, dead, etc) with a sketch of the soldier or whatever. But I can't get out of it to get back to the battle. When I click on it, it just goes to the next unit in my army and so on and so on and scrolls through endlessly. There's no way for me to get back to the battle screen.

I've tried using my keyboard, but haven't found anything that works.

I've had to resort to saving after every turn and when I get stuck, I use the Windows menu button to get back to the desktop, close out of the game, and go back in to the saved game. Needless to say, it's frustrating, but I don't know what else to do.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Not from hovering, no. This can happen if you multi-click on a unit. Right-click is cancel, yes? It should get you out of that screen.

I'm not intentionally going into it. And when I right click, it goes to the next army unit. And on and on and on.

Switching units is what left-click does/should do. Right-click properly exits like it should for me. You haven't swapped the buttons or anything? Does right-click ever work normally for you?
Do you have any joysticks or pads plugged in? What happens if you <ALT>+<ENTER> to switch to windowed when your stuck? This will lose focus until you click back in the window.

no, I hadn't swapped anything. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it is responding properly now. I have no idea what the problem was. Thanks for trying to help. I appreciate it.
