welcome to hell...
this is the "starting movie screen and after that we have the freeze color" problem
here goes: it all started when i got this game off the internet (iso then deamon mount) because after fallout 3 (and playing fallout 1 on my friends computer) i was interested.
i tried to install but it went to the blue screen (at that point i had to press esc) . frusterated i went on to manually install the game (easy to do). after a few seconds, i have the game.
now after seeing my game freeze up i looked for several days (and to no avail) on how to fix this. although there where some threads on not so well known sites, all they said was to either F*** off (gotta love those admins) or not answered. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this to work. compatibility, high-res patch, res changes, 256 colors, and of course, the rename the file(yes i have read the remove the "w" example). nothing works. so I went to download the game again and I couldn't start up at all. I am all out of options. what do?

When you say you went to download it again do you mean the ISO or the download from this site?

what does it look like ;-)
Solution: Buy legimate copy from GOG.com (no need for fidling with ISO images), it might work straight away and if not, I'm sure people of GOG community would be more than happy to help. If you own a copy from here you can even contact professional support staff that may be able to help if all else fails.
If you are using an ISO then you aren't using the download from this site. The download on this site is a modified version of the game so that it should run on Windows XP and Vista (and from the forums it also works on Win7) and for both 32-bit and 64-bit OS versions.
With an ISO you'll likely have an unmodified version. So firstly it may not work on modern hardware and OSes, and secondly you won't get any help from GOG support as you don't have the GOG version.
Things you could try, though, are:
running as admin
using different compatibility mode settings
turning off desktop themes
turning off Aero interface
turn off UAC and DEP
install to a non-protected folder (e.g. C:\Games) instead of the default Program Files location.

Well he doesn't make it clear if he was messing with ISO's to begin with, couldn't get them to work and then decided to grab it off gog and download it again from here.

Then he either shouldn't have mentioned it or made it clear he has GOG.com version. He really shouldn't be that surpriset of the comments he's been receiving if first thing he states is that he downloaded an ISO from the web :-p
Nice rep btw, Ralackk. ;-)

Yea he should have, I like helping people with their problems when it comes to getting old games to run but I won't help someone thats pirated a game they can buy(for a reasonable price), hence my hesitation and question rather then possible solutions.

Please clarify: did you actually purchase the game and where from or did you pirate it? As far as I know, no (legimate) DD service provides just iso image for their games.

For everyone who may still be having trouble with color problems or display problems with black screens, etc., check out this link. Randomnly found it in a topic on gamefaqs and it helped fix any display issues for me. If it doesn't work the first time then restart your computer and try again, it worked for me when the tool randomnly didn't work sometimes (probably just my computer). Hope this helps.
