Perhaps, the distributors of this site are seeing data that you are not seeing...

Fallout & Fallout 2 are part of a series (as you already know) and there is a generation of gamers who have played Fallout 3 & New Vegas but never the original game. There is a possibility that those same gamers are going back to the original game to complete the collection.

It's possible.

Unfortunately GOG had to raise some prices of Interplay games about a year and a half ago, because Interplay demanded.
But at least they held a sale before that went into effect, and warned about it beforehand.

It's pretty high on the best-selling games on GOG list, and it's even been given away for free on one occasion. I think that an accountant at Interplay played around with some numbers for a while and reckoned that they could afford raising the price.

Yes, it does suck for the consumers a bit, but it's still only $4.99 on any decent sale.

yeah imma wait for sale sadly..... cause i dont support such greediness. call me whatever you want but wanting for such old game such prices is for me rip off! download only! yeah you get bonusses but most are not worth the price mostly like avatars, wallpapers etc. and gog.com ignores all those questions on facebook etc. shows their stand to it for me, kinda turns me off!

There's also the fact that Interplay will lose the distribution rights to original three Fallout games sometimes next year I believe (due to court battle over Fallout Online couple years back that they settled outside court). Then all rights to Fallout will fall to Bethesda. Hopefully they'll allow GOG to continue the distribution even if Bethesda is Steam's lapdog.

I hope so. I hope that discussions have already started to ensure a seamless transition when this transfer occurs. Until then, I'll make sure to download and back up all of my Fallout games just in case.
