I bought fallout tactics and so far I am very frustrated and regretful of buying it(even for 6 dollars). The ai is so stupid, so dumb, so poorly designed that it ignores nearby enemies or refuses to do what is asked. Is it suppose to be like that or am I commanding the ai incorrectly. Here is what i am doing.
1-Ai has weapon selected and it set to aggressive at close range.
2-go up to enemy.
3-let them attack.
4-This is where there is problems. They ether a)Just ignore what is happening and work on their own volition. b)attack once or twice and just sit there. It is impossible to do anything when I make a plan and they simply stand there looking at the enemy with nothing in the way and instead of attacking, they just stand there and get blown to bits. This results in constant saves.
How would you recommend me commanding them? Are they like this all the time?
Also why in games like fallout 2, fallout tactics, and starcraft do the graphics have these weird rainbow pixelated effects on white sections?
Thanks a lot.
Anthony

The issue with the rainbow settings could be attributed to a number of things, it could be that the video settings are wrong on your computer (maybe make sure your video drivers are up to date) find out if the program is running in a certain color scheme by right clicking on the shortcut, going to properties, and then compatibility. check your monitor settings even, some newer monitors have some weird issues.
as far as the ai goes, i'm looking into it.
EDIT:
as far as AI goes, this article over at Arstechnica is pretty descriptive.
fallout tactics review.
The AI kinda, well, sucks. In turn-based mode, the AI can easily be exploited. It never uses overwatch correctly and it rarely acts aggressively enough. You can hide a couple of characters behind cover, pop out, fire a shot at the bad guys and then duck into cover again. Repeating this exercise lets you chip away at the computer enemies until they are dead. It's a bit tedious but it can be done. I understand that the patch addresses this issue, so keep in mind that my review is of the unpatched, out-of-the-box version.

Thanks for the speedy and accurate response. I checked my drivers and they are up to date but I read in the fallout 2 thread that changing the config file could do the trick, and it did.
Is the patch called 1.27? I want to make sure I patch it right.
All games through GOG.com are updated to their latest version from the developer.

Thanks, should of check back before I did what I did. Installed patch and now it asks me for the cd. I see no uninstall for the patch, so is the answer uninstall the game? Will all saved data be lost? Is that the best thing to do?
EDIT-If i copy and paste the old save file to the new folder, will the saves transfer?

I believe the saves will be fine, but yes you would need to uninstall.
