Getting a "untested windows version 6.2 detected" message in the dosbox when trying to run fallout 2. I am fairly computer illiterate, anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried re-downloading the game several times, still no luck.

Do you use Windows 8? Have you tried running the game in Compatibility Mode and as Administrator?

To assist with answering your question please provide feed back to the following:
What version of windows are you using? Is your operating system 64 bit? Is this your first GOG game? What sort of computer are you using and if you know, what are the specifications(CPU, RAM)? What other games have and haven't you had problems with?

Also GOG offer a money back guarantee if the application will not run on your machine, please also try: http://www.gog.com/support/fallout

I'm using Windows 8, my operating system is 64 Bit. My processor says "Intel (R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz

Installed memory RAM says 4.00 GB (3.89 usable)

Other GOG games I've played are all 5 Quest For Glory, Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Arcanum, and Planescape. All worked great, except Arcanum is occasionally buggy when I quit.

Where do you install your games? Do you install them outside of program files? Have you tried installing the game as "run as administrator" (right click on installer, select "run as administrator" in context menu)?

"Running as administrator" made it give me a different problem, which I suppose is encouraging! Now it says "Error Initializing video mode 640x480"

Googled the new problem, ran troubleshooter, and now I've got it working! Thanks all :)

I guess you mean, you used the troubleshoot option for turning on compatibility mode ;-)
