First off I am very happy there is a Windows 10 version of Fallout 3 which seems stable and plays well. At least it does on my I-7 GTX 1070 TI PC.

Bad news is I cannot get any Mods I have tried to work. I am baffled by this. I use Vortex to manage mods for Fallout 3 and one error I get is missing master files but they are all there. Or I do not get any error, the mod simply does not work.

Since this appears to be across the board problem it may very well be a Vortex problem or a GOG Windows 10 version problem.

I have even manually put the mod in the Fallout 3/Data directory and it simply does not work.

Has anyone run across this problem and solved it. I am stuck.

I would post some images but they are being rejected as wrong file format. JPG is a wrong file format?

I use FOMM, and other than a random crash every now and then, it works fine.

Without using Vortex, does the game start normally without any mods? Can you get thru Vault 101 with no issues?

I have no issues getting to through Vault 101 and have done a quest or two from the nearby settlement. Program is fine, I am just wanting a mod or two which I cannot get to work with the game.

In that case, it is most likely something with Vortex, though I don't have any familiarity with it to help unfortunately, and it might just be a configuration setting. If you don't have any other games that you're managing with Vortex, maybe reinstalling or running the configuration utility for it might work?

If it's only two mods though, it should work without much issue even without a mod manager, since most of them are just an .esp file you drop into the data directory. Which mods are they?

The problem was due to the initial setup of the game.

In the launcher you have a link to the DATA FILES. They were not checked and the Mods required all the DLCs.

Once I checked the DLCs to activate them the Mods started working and installed correctly.

I am not sure why they would sell the Game of the Year Edition and have the DLCs all disabled.

I ran across a similar problem in, I think, in Oblivion GOTY.

But in this case the Mods were all working and suddenly they quit and I could not understand why.

I hadn't played the game in awhile and several updates had happened and apparently one of the updates had disabled the DLCs. I had to go into the DATA FILES of the launcher and check the boxes to reactivate the DLCs.

In this case the DLCs of Fallout 3 were disabled at the start. I just took me awhile to remember what had happened in Oblivion.
