I'm sorry, I know there was a lot of talks about this. They were contradicting each other. Maybe I'm just dumb, but it was confusing and totally unclear.

I got fallout back before the re-release, a 2014 installer "setup_fallout_2.0.0.14.exe" and now I downloaded from fallout classics setup_fallout_2.1.0.18.exe.

Which one is uncencored and bethesda removed content. Which one I should install?
They are the same, except the classic are sold by interplay, which is the original version
Then their IP expired, the classic are no longer for sale.

Then the now owner Bethesda rereleased the game, replacing some interplay logos with their own, but otherwise the same game.

Yes, just a few threads down.

Both are uncensored.
I own both versions (Why? My favorite games of all time, nuff said).
There is no censorship in Fallout 2, there is blood, brutal deaths, and children.
I can't remember if Fallout 1 is also uncensored, but even if it is, it's very easy to fix.

Thank you.
I was always more D&D fantasy payer than fallout. But it feels awesome to start this game not knowing absolutely anything about it. Except that there is blood, brutal deaths and children... :3

In Fallout 1 (at least in pre-Bethesda edition) children are invisible and untargetable, but it is possible to kill a child by accident with misfired shot or splash damage (grenade, rocket, etc.).

You're welcome :)

Unlike Fallout 2, the first Fallout is censored, so you'll have to install the fan-made patch.

I just installed, to check. The version provided by Bethesda is censored, too.
I couldn't find any kids in Shady Sands.
You can still kill people savagely, just not the children. Blood wasn't removed.
Additional, in both versions of FO1 and FO2 the pictures for "Chem Reliant" and "Chem Resistant" are cencored. This doesn't influence the gameplay and can be undone by one of TeamX's patches.

There's also blood and brutal death involving children ;-)
Just remember that, just like in the real world, killing children is not a good way to make friends.

And for Fallout 2 (TeamX patches are for Fallout 1), killap's Restoration Project fix these problems.
I believe killap's UP also does, but no promises. It's been so long since I installed it, so I can't confirm.

Yeah, why censor it anyway? People are sane. They have standards. For example, I have moral values, not some psycho: I will NEVER kill kids by the time of my 3rd playthrough

You must understand that game publishers may be aiming for a particular rating, and in this case, child killing probably pushed them up one category in the UK market and they self-censored in order to downgrade to a more marketable one. Game developers and publishers do not set age ratings.
