squid830: Apart from that it was pretty bland though. Not enough quests, far too many locations which happened to be infested with various lame baddies to wipe out. A first-person shooter disguised as an RPG which didn't even have proper first-person shooter controls.
At least they improve the shooting mechanics in fallout 4, were you don't need to spam the vats system every time you see an op enemy :).

But yeah, I am more excited of Obsidian developing a fallout game from the fallout 4 set, then what ever dlc plans Bethesda have for fallout 4, just because Bethesda been terrible with roleplaying for years now.

Yes, that's definitely more exciting. Fallout NV was SO much better than Fallout 3 - well once most of the bugs were squashed via community patches five years later anyway...

Even then, it shows Bethesda not just lost there touch in making rpgs (since oblivion really), they also should try the Elder Scroll and Fallout licenses in full spin off games that are not an exploitative mmo, or a crappy mobile game.

Or dozens of DLCs that tend to add stuff that probably should have been there in the first place. Or dozens of DLCs in general - especially since you're always restricted from taking companions with you into them, which feels so artificial. Though I did enjoy the humor of Old World Blues, despite the only companion in that DLC being a mutt you "build" yourself (and who is restricted to the area you build her in).

The DLCs in New Vegas raise the level cap, but the thing is it's really easy to hit the new cap without even heading to any of the DLC areas.

nah, then bethesda would be releasing mole rat settlements, and mutant dog armor for dlc ;)

I wouldn't put it past them!

One of the New Vegas DLCs was the "gun runner's arsenal" which was basically just a bunch of new weapons. Sure they were cool weapons, but it was essentially a weapons pack. Of course they bollocksed it up - without fan patches, the "Gun Runner's Arsenal" adds extra weapons labelled as "GRA" weapons - and quite often, the GRA version and the "standard" version of the weapon have different (and incompatible) modifications! Not to mention that it's kind of silly having a "GRA" version of a weapon which most of the time isn't any different (apart from the modifications issue).

I guess they wanted to minimise disruption to save games or something, but geez they could have put a little bit of effort into it and done it properly!

(OK technically all the NV stuff was Obsidian, but it was still under the Bethesda label so they're both to blame).

Agreed. A post-apocalyptic simulation should be random. Sorry you had to get the unpopular opinion stick
Well to be honest fallout is the kind of game where a non- talkative characters misses tons of opportunities...

You can play with a totally dumb hero and still have fun with combats.
But old fallouts shouldn't be played (only)for fights.

Good at engineering/science with a amazing talent for speech and convincing is the key to fully enjoy Fallout 1 and 2.

Like when you can pass through the angry farmer after your medical duties ....

Unforgettable.
