Sorry this is kind of a duplicate from the Fallout Wikia - I just posted a couple of bugs over there, because I didn't realize Sduibek was active over here (just saw a new post from December about 6.4).

Anyway, I'm encountering two issues with 6.5 and I feel like maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Whenever I start a new game, the rats in Vault 13 cave are dead. Then, when I go to leave the cave, I get a memory read error. I've only tried a Full installation so far of Fixt probably 2 or 3 times, so I'm going to go back and try a different installation.

Whenever I do this, I open up the DMG and overwrite the Fallout.app package (which afaik should remove all traces of the FIXT modifications). Is this a good way to go about testing this?

As another point of testing, I tried installing FIXT 6.1 and tried to start a new game before installing the 6.5 patch, but i wasn't even able to start a new game. I got an error from FIXT saying I was trying to load a game from an older version (I just clicked new game, and then "Take" for the first default character).

Oh yeah, the other thing I'm unsure of, is the best way to run these installation packages. I tried to find a walkthrough for OS X and didn't see anything in this forum. The way I've been doing it is to:

1. Show the contents of the package
2. Run wineskin.app
3. Change the main Windows EXE file to the FIXT installation/patch files
4. Click "Test Run"

Is this an appropriate way to run the installation?

hmm? Sduibek's main thread about his patch is over at NMA. Sduibek was active there just yesterday. ;P
Hey there,

The dead rats thing is issue unique to MacOS, as some systems don't like to play nice with my installer when using virtual machine (VMware, WINE, etc). So the global variables file doesn't install, which as you might imagine messes up many parts of the game.

The good news is my newest (test version) installer includes C++ distributables and some other stuff like that, which should make it install smoothly in your virtual setup on MacOS.

Unfortunately only the "Fixes Only" version is avaiable for this test version at the moment. Full Custom is still in the works.

No word on when I'll have a true MacOS support, probably never though, because the high resolution patch and some other stuff requires DirectX. So you could play the mod itself but playing without high res support (and the various other useful features from f1_res) would be a bummer.
