I'm trying to play FO3 on WinXP. I have no sound hardware. The game won't start from the starter menu (no sound device found error), but double-clicking the .exe in the directory starts the game.
I can start a new game, but I can see no dialog, even though in the settings themselves there are two subtitles options. None of the characters speak to me.
And I am stuck at the birthday party. I have watched the YT walk-through to see what I am may be missing. The overseer never walks in, it gives me the pip-boy before the screen even fades in, and I cannot walk around or activate the pip-boy or progress any further.
I'm beginning to regret buying Bethesda/Obsidian Fallout games. Having many problems. :(
I'm glad I managed to play through NV on Ubuntu. Fun and cool ending, but many crashes.
