like said in the title, in klamath when I go to the north eastern area where there's supposed to be some giant rat or something the game just crashed, giving me a message about some initiatlization failure.

Make sure you're using unofficial Fallout 2 patch:

Don't play without it. It fixes a lot of bugs but is not changing or adding new staff.

Restoration Project contains unofficial patch and restored content (made by developers during work on Fo2 but not included in vanilla game). I'm strongly recommending this.

Warning! Old saves will be lost.

It messes up translated dialog tho, doesn't matter. klamath isn't that far into the game anyway
