Hay there. Noob to GoG, literally hear about it about an hour ago. After searching the Steam forums for a clear answer as to how FO 1, 2 and Tactics plays on Windows Vista 64-Bit (Home Premium if you want to be really specific), and after hearing the boasts of many users of GoG's special Hat of Awesomeness that gives a +10 stat-boost to giving-a-damn and compatibility-testing skills, decided to wander over and see what the deal is. Are the games bug free, to the point where I can play the games, with no patches, and enjoy them without getting annoyed?
Sorry if this question's been answered elsewhere, I did a quick forum search and no topics came up relevant to Vista-64 bit, or Vista at all, and compatibility, and I didn't want to scrounge through 400 topics with the words "Fallout" and "Vista" in them for a relevant comment.
Thanks in advance! GoG seems like an alright place, and if my experience with the forums here and with buying the games seems good, I'll pro'lly stick around for some moar games.

Ok , that's good to know. Have fun.
i played fallout 1,2 and tactics (and many others from gog.com) on vista x64 without any problems. as long as you install and run the game with admin priviliges, there should be no problem at all.
Alright, so I try to extract the Zip to the folder you guys specified, but I keep getting messages like "Cannot create folder data/art Access Denied". What am I doing wrong?
Just so you all know what I'm doing:
Step one: Right clicking F1Childpatch (type: Winrar zip archive), selecting "Extract files . . ."
Step two: Selecting C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Fallout , setting on "Extract and replace files", clicking "OK"
Results: Two windows open, "WinRAR: Diagnostic messages" which lists all the accesses that have been denied like the above example, and "Confirm File Replace", which I just select "Yes to all" with, creating another WDM window, saying I cant create Falloutw.exe or Readme1sr.txt
You need to either run the extraction program as administrator so you have permission to overwrite things in the programfiles folder which vista is never fond of or you could reinstall it to a different directory outside program files.
If you want to overwrite I think if you right click and run your extraction program first as admin then find the childrens patch zip open that up with your extraction program, then you should beable to extract the contents into the fallout 1 folder.
The second option is to uninstall fallout, and reinstall it to something like C:\games\Fallout. Then just extract the patch straight into that folder and you shouldn't need admin permission to do so.
Woot! Thank you so much, guys. You've all been lots of help to this lowly GoG noob. Pardon my french, but you guys kick ass :>

You've probably not had an answer because it's not really clear what your post is for.
If you want to know whether GOG support the games in Vista 32 and 64 bit, then yes, as that's what they advertise. If you have issues with the game you can raise a support ticket with them and they'll try to help you out.
If you want to know how they are packaged, read GOG's "about us" page. DRM stripped out, packaged and designed to work on XP and Vista (and hopefully soon Windows 7) at both 32 and 64 bit. Latest official patches are applied, but non-official stuff cannot be applied, though you'll find out what you can get through the forums. Plenty of extra material such as wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, manuals, etc are available on purchasing the game.
If you have purchased the game (it isn't clear whether you have or not from your post) then if you are having problems you need to tell us what you've tried, such as running as administrator, installing to a non-OS protected folder, using compatibility modes, etc and what the nature of the issue is (crash to desktop, error messages, display problems, etc). Also, if you are having issues, raise a ticket with GOG.

Oh dear, EPIC FAIL for me there. That changes the perspective of the entire post! :P What seemed like sarcasm at no help is actually much happiness at the issue being solved! But at least what I posted is accurate.
Sorry FlamboyantPencil, but the GOG forum layout made it appear as though you'd posted and nobody had answered. My bad for not checking page numbers or number of comments posted.
No worries :B And yeah, everything seems aye-okay. Pretty cool that I didn't need to restart after the patch, I was already pretty far into my first game.
