(game crash on hardcore option screen at Doc Mitchells House)
*** NOTE ***
This will NOT allow you to play on Hardmode, It simply defaults to Regular mode and stops the crash before it happens. Nothing more.

I played a full game run through lastnight, HardCore mode does work and so does regular mode. Menu selection for hardcore mode will still be disabled however.
If anyone good at G.E.C.K. editing. Move the hardcore menu at the save point. in the directions. (wait for all the crap to lad first. personally I think the menu pops up too soon after docs conversation and glitches out.

1. Start a new game
2. accept default name (or make your own)
3. fast select through through the vigor-tester (or take your time)
4. keep mouse cursor on Q/A from "Doc" or (take time and answer questions)
5. Follow "Doc" or (run ahead and wait for "Doc" to show up)
[ACTION TO FOLLOW]
Once "Doc" gives you all your supplies and you finish his dialog. The Hardcore or regular mode screen will appear.
"DO NOT SELECT ANYTHING"
PRESS THE TIDEL KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND TYPE IN THE FOLLOWING "COC_LOCATION MARKER"

(THEN PRESS THE [ENTER KEY])

the screen will quickly flicker about a millisecond, once that is done. then hit the [ ~ Tidle] key again to open the menu
You will notice you do not warp, but are placed differently on the screen and "Doc "walks away.
then close the command screen
Now select regular or hardcore modes and the screen should NOT cause a Crash.
BEFORE WALKING THROUGH THE DOOR AT "DOC MITCHELLS HOUSE" if you are using "CONSOLE" commands ie;, Player.modav luck 10
OR ANY OTHER COMMANDS, ADD THEM NOW
ONCE YOU ARE DONE, THEN OPEN THE DOOR AND STEP OUT INTO THE WASTELAND AND WAIT FOR ALL THE RADIO SIGNALS TO BE ADDED AND POP-UPS TO FINISH AND FIRST QUEST TO FINISH AS THE NEXT ONE STARTS UP AND WAIT FOR ALL ONSCREEN ITEMS TO FINISH. wALK BACK INTO "DOC'S HOUSE AND "CREATE A NEW SAVE"
THEN STEP BACK OUT TO THE WASTELAND AND "CREATE A NEW SAVE"
ONCE EVERYTHING IS DONE, GOTO YOU'RE SAVE GAME DIRECTORY AND SAVE THOSE TWO FILES SOMEWHERE ELSE, IN-CASE OF CLOUD SAVE "FAIL" OR "FIREWALL" SETTINGS.
AND... NOW YOUR READY TO PLAY THE GAME.

Additional CDT issues. (recommended)

Since all games on gog, steam, origin and any other game client or game itself; runs either Dos, XNA or C++ runtimes. Best to download and install the following, which should cure 99.78% of runtime issues.
Secondly, since this forum hates links.. open or download the screenshot attachment and follow it.
The VC, C++ (AIO, all in one) package can be extracted, so you can see the files. *it does work as advertised*
also notice this is a x64 bit machine, and even the 32bit versions are installed.
Just read the read me and the instructions..
then reboot your machine and then run windows update (Win vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10) to update to current if need be
this will keep many games from crashing to have all 32bit and 64 bit and XNA and direct X versions installed.
if runnin windows 8 or later. Direct x is now part of the OS. otherwise look for "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer" (for Windows vista, 7)
