So, I'm new to modding. What kind of mods should I look at, and does anybody know how I would go about installing them?

The only patch I know that actually has a mac installer would be Fallout 2's unofficial patch/restoration, and for that you'll have to use the older Hi-Res version. Everything else you're probably going to need to install the Windows version via Wineskin for. It works perfectly fine.
