I read that Merk is supposed to help me get a job interview with Carlson so I can do the quest to murder him for Mr. Bishop. But when I ask him about Carlson, my only dialogue option is: "That's all I needed to know." I did the quest to give him Dr. Henry's papers, but I can't get him to help me get to Carlson. What did I do wrong? What can I do to make sure Merk helps me in future playthroughs?
