I enjoyed it, but it seems like F2 is just too simmiliar to F1, nothing new.

What do you say ?
F2 is F1 on steroids with a lot of content added, from quest's to items and a bigger world.
There are some fixes with the inventory and even with NPCs.

I would say buy it.

F1 has a better atmosphere general, but F2 is fun for it is a much bigger game.
There's a lot of new stuff in F2. Specialized unarmed attacks that make playing an unarmed character interesting instead of dull, more weapons and armors, a vastly improved party UI (as in, it HAS a party UI), and the world is much, much larger. So there's more quests and more areas and so on. So there's more to it than just "bigger." However, the atmosphere isn't quite the same, and the humor is a bit more juvenile, but if you liked the first game you definitely should play the second.

Personally, I think the first is a (slightly) better game, but the second definitely has more replay value, and it's quite excellent in all regards, though it's a LOT buggier, so you'll definitely want some fan bugfix patches. I'd suggest against going too overboard with content mods on your first playthrough, though, just stick to fixing bugs at first.
Thanks for the replies, I just bought it. for 3$ there's nothing to lose.
if you can get past all of the bugs (COUGHOne of mine which has gone un-answered so far...COUGH) and don't crash every four hours, then it's pretty good. Personally, I'm not liking it so far. The bugs that keep corrupting my saves are just too much for me to endure, but I don't want to disencourage you. It's a great game. I wouldn't be a very good person to listen to though, I've got up to like, what, New Reno with still a leather jacket and pistol? Apparently that's bad, but after the Den there's no where else to go.

But, the best part so far is the several ways to play it in each 24+ hour games.

EDIT:Alas, I was too late and didn't see your latest post. Welp, hope you don't hate the game as much as I do.

Oddly, I've encounter fewer bugs in Fallout 2 than in Knights of the Old Republic, Spore, Planescape: Torment, or Xenogears.
Three out of four of those are infamous for errors. The other is infamous for unfulfilled promises. They are simply the first four games I thought of, and (please don't hurt me) I loved all of them.
Mind you, after finishing FO1 the slow, slow start of FO2 is a bit like being hit with a wet sock filled with gold nuggets. You'll spend the first few hours punching or stabbing geckos and rats.

It'd be fun to know the statistics of how many players actually gave up before getting even a couple of guns.
And which guns are the first they get. I've had more than one character really, really try to use the Tube Rifle.
Yeah the fact that you don't get a real gun until the very end of Klamath always bugged me. You can even miss it if you aren't paying close attention. Especially considering that there's a handgun in the Elder's hut in the intro! Apparently your quest wasn't quite important enough for her to hand it over.
Maybe she's a crack shot with it.
Don't say anything else. Spoilers.
It's pretty awesome and seems to be on sale now.

I'd say go for it.

Especially if you would like to learn more about the Fallout setting.

*SPOILERSTART*Sources from wiki, I remember reading that the elder used the gun in the temple, which it broke near the end(?). So, if she really wanted to be a dick, she'd have given you the gun.*SPOILEREND* (Was this even a spoiler? Maybe for lore...?)

As for the gun style of playing in Fallout 2, I was annoyed that the first gun you got, was pretty much the worse gun in the game. And it didn't make things better than I was majoring in small guns, so my Melee/Unarmed was terrible. A 48% chance to hit a gecko. Sheesh. But, once you get the 10MM pistol, it's like that long wait in the airplane until you FINALLY lift off. It's kind of the 'Finally, getting into the bug guns now!'. Sadly, some of the better guns such at the 44. magnum are pretty expensive, so getting better guns is either luck, skill, or just a high barter.

UndeadNecro: but after the Den there's no where else to go.
trololololol? After the Den you can go pretty much anywhere you like. Modoc, Vault City, New Reno, even Broken Hills or NCR.

I don't know why people complain about the gun, I think most of you don't realize that F2 isn't made to be completed step by step, city after city, in a linear way. You want a gun you get a pretty obvious first one in Klamath, you want something better you can get a very quick one in the Den with Lara's chain quest. Personally when I used to play back in the days, I'd nearly always go to the Den and *spoiler*

steal Metzger's shotgun and ammo, that makes a pretty awesome starting weapon. Also, at the time I really didn't follow the "proper" course of action and used to skip from the Den directly to New Reno, where I used to just blast Eldridge's head off and loot him for his whole gun-shop inventory :P If you want to be a little more civilized you can do the New Reno families' quests (avoiding the last ones so you don't become made man) and you get a pretty good amount of money and exp, for a lowbie character.
I always liked becoming a made man for Salvatore and getting the laser pistol! Ah, the good old days. Really have to pick up FO2 on GOG sometime.

I just found the gun progression in FO2 slow. Once I got the random encounter around Vault City for the shotgun, it was meh-ish in difficulty, since the gun's damage (15-20, I think it was) wasn't significantly good.
