Shoot it, burn it with fire and bury 10 feet deep, it's only way to make sure. Then get real OS like Win7. ;-p

Joking aside, can't really help as I don't have Windows 8 to test you should try the latest version if you are not doing so already. The one linked earlier is old as hell.

Oh yeah, was the most recent version and still no dice.
You could run the DOS version of the game in DOSBox.

A tutorial for setting up the files can be found at: How to run Fallout in DOSBox
You could always download VMware Player, create a virtual machine and run the game in there. Virtual machines are windowed unless explicitly set to full screen and perform quite well. You just need an OS with a key to make it work.
