I just robbed a sniper rifle off of a Regulator in Adytown. I was eager to try it out, so I saved my game and got in a fight with the regulators. The people of Adytown jumped in on my side - no surprise there. But for some reason Ian started gunning them down as well as the regulators. Is there a reason for this that I'm missing, or is it a bug.
By the way, at the end of the fight I shot Ian in the head as a punishment. Going to reload my save, of course - even if he's a pain in the ass (and got me trapped between him and a guard on the bridge at the Gunrunners' place), I still need him around to carry the stuff I can't. =P
(not to mention all the dead bodies lying around Adytown are starting to smell).

I'm guessing that one of the Adytowners accidentally shot Ian during the firefight. Quoting Per's Ultimate Fallout Guide:
"NPCs won't turn on you if you accidentally hit them in combat. However, should ever a party member happen to hit a neutral critter, or should someone that isn't marked as an ally (which Friendly Foe will indicate) accidentally hit an NPC, you'll soon have a fight on your hands you might not like."
Makes sense, thanks. =)
