Is the Fallout 3 GOTY Edition GOG version better? Seeing as how Retail version requires Windows Live, which I do have and still the game doesn't work.

Well it should work, my disc copy does. Mod out GFWL, it has been available for many years now.

The GOG edition is better in the way that it doesn't require manual removal of the GFWL, it comes already patched to be LAA out of the box and you don't need to install the game from a couple of disks.

If you don't mind doing those things manually, then it is pretty much the same, I think.
