zion1911: Got fallout working on my nexus 4. not the most comfortable but cool as shit nonetheless!! Thanks again!
Just wait till I make my new video about running Fallout 1,2, and Tactics with Dosbox turbo. This fixes the interface and makes if fully touch friendly. It should be done next month, if I'm done beta testing Voodoo support. This will also work for dozens of other GOG games as well.

Awesome! i cant wait!
Figured I had to post here. Recently got a Nexus and I love been able to play so many classics on it. Old school gamer here who actually brought quite a few Gog games like the Gab knight series thinking I'd never play them again. Just nice to have them backed up. Roland, what you post sounds amazing. The Fallout, Black Isle and especially Arcanum are all amazing games that I would to play on my Nexus. People go on about Kickstarter been merely for nostralgia, but been honest most of these games are still far superior to any games been released today. I have tried the latest version of GemRb, but still seems to have quite a few issues.

Big shame what happened to the BG2 EE, would have loved to play that. Thanks again Roland for your efforts, so great to have all these classics on a tablet.

Next month is too long. Can you maybe gimme the quick version? I have the Transformer Prime and I would love to finally get this game running on it.

The level of immersion and depth in those older game titles is unparalleled by most modern games. What they lack in high end graphics they make up for with memorable characters and incredible stories. Have you tried the Fallout 2 restoration project by killap? It adds tons of extra content back into the game. When I first started my quest to get fallout 2 playable on android , I made it my mission to make sure this would run too. Actually when I first started this project I had my probing posts removed by mods and got pretty much told off. People said it wasn't possible and I'd never do it ect, lol;) Now with the DosBox turbo app we are able to play it more stably, with full touchscreen and Bluetooth support. I just need to write a little guide and it should be ready for public consumption.

I actually hadn't heard about the legal problems with BG2 EE, I had to look it up. I really hope they get that sorted out soon, I was really looking forward to that. I guess for now I will just stick to playing BG1 BG2, with the gemrb app. I have threads here explaining how to do that if your interested. Note you need to get the 7.2 beta version to stop the traps crashing the game. The 8.0 version has issues and won't run. I asked about when we might see updates to the GemRB app but they said 6 months or longer:(

Lol well start with the QEMU version it works for fallout 1 & 2, figure out how to setup fallout with my instructions. Once you've got that all sorted out you'll be ready and set. The new version will be like that but for Dosbox Turbo. I want to keep it as similar as possible and make the instructions noob friendly, so that takes a little time. Well that and beta testing the app to help improve it for all us old school gamers;) I've been messaging back and forth with the deveolper since last year talking about the needed changes and memory requirements to get this working. I will likely write the whole thing on the weekend so its not like you have long to wait now.

The real solution is already on the first page, all you have to do if figure out how to make that run with Dosbox. Or you can wait for the guide and use the QEMU version for now;)

I should probably note that running Arcanum and Fallout Tactics is very hard on current gen hardware and would require something more powerful like Nvidias shield (tegra 4 or better) to make them actually playable. The below info will give you and idea about using current level hardware.

Quad Core Samsung Exynos (1.6 Ghz - Samsung Galaxy Note II) ~ Pentium 75 - 90
Quad Core Nvidia Tegra3 CPU (1.5Ghz) ~ Pentium 60-75Mhz
Dual Core Nvidia Tegra2 CPU (1Ghz) ~ 486@66-80Mhz
Dual Core A9/Exynos Processor (Samsung Galaxy II @ 1.2Ghz) ~ 486@75-90Mhz
Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 (MSM8260 1.5Ghz) ~ 486@50Mhz
Single Core Generic Cortex A8 (1Ghz) ~ 486@33-40Mhz

Heya Roland. I'm surprised that anyone would have any issue trying to get old games running on Android. At the the end of the day means more sales for GOG. As for BG EE, it was removed from sale by Atari, so will probably be sold off in a auction so some dumb downed console version will destroy the name.

As for GemRB, I'm playing the May build and it seems to have sorted a lot of the issues. Still takes a while to load but they seem to update every couple of weeks. You can find the latest builds on the Gibberling's forum. I had to totally rewrite the CFG though. Having said that I'm playing on a Nexus 7, I think other's had issues with other hardware.

Having said all that the Nexus crashed 2 weeks after I got it, so lost most of the old games I had working. Star Trek Judgement Rites, Daggerfall, Heroes 2 (there is a version available on Google play, but no campaigns) Gabriel Knight 1with the voices. I was going to try Qemu but after repair had to start all over again. ScummVm is great on Android though, and I can really recommend the portable version of Exult. Ultima 7 still as much fun as ever.

Edited to add that anyone who has Grim Fandango there's a great version of Residual on Android too. So far works fine. Escape from Monkey Island is unplayable at the moment though.

Hey Roland,
Ive been following your for a while now, trying to get fallout working on a aPad tablet that I bought back when 2.2 was the newest thing, to now, working on a galaxy tab 10.1. I love what you're doing, as I grew up playing fallout as a kid, loving the absolute freedom of it, and now being able to play it anywhere is truly awesome. I have to admit, I am more excited for your new release/video than GTA V, the PS4 and Half Life 3 combined....OK, well maybe not HL3 ;p Any ETA on its release.? Keep up the good work!

Hey thanks, i've got some good news for you. As of yesterday 3Dfx Voodoo support is working with Android and win9X. Still doing testing but here are some screens of the upcoming release:) This was the last major thing to figure out and the build i'm testing is now RC1. So we should see the DosBox turbo app receiving an update and then I will be able to release this. It won't work without the app to give it the 3Dfx Voodoo support.

Look's great Roland, though obviously looking forward more to playing Fallout 2 with the restoration mod. It's a excellent time for old time gamers.
Is it possible to run fallout 1&2 on windows surface RT? I'm dying to play those on a portable device.
Both games seem to work fine on Window's Surface. Don't have it myself, but looking it up on Google shows videos with them working great.

The Windows RT tablets will probably not work, but the normal surface will work fine.

Amazing! You sir are an inspiration to all old school gamers. Been following you since I found your video on how to get Half-Life working on Android and am eagerly awaiting your guide on how to get Fallout 2 & Tactics working on Android.. Fallout 2 is just too slow and the controls are unusable in QEMU.
