I just reached Shady Sands and talked a bit with Ian, and he seems to be a follower. After recruiting him with my mad speech skillz I noticed I can say to him to "Leave now", but he just stays in place without returning to the house I found him in, maybe because I'm still in SS. Before actually using him I want to know how to properly make him return to SS when I'm elsewhere in the game and I do not need him anymore, and not just make him stay in place. Strangely I couldn't Google the answer because every topic was about New Vegas.

BTW I'm using the FIXT mod, V6.4.

That's actually normal I think.

But isn't there the risk of followers getting attacked and killed? Or never returning to their "hometown"?
Not a lot of risk of drawing aggro, but if you wish to dismiss followers kindly, you're really best off finding them a good place and dropping them off there. I fear followers don't really know what to do with their lives after travelling with the Vault Dweller.
I've never heard anyone ask about this before... I think it's actually a pretty cool idea.

I could add a "dismiss" dialog option and of course an "are you sure?" confirmation... then after a certain amount of time they'd show up at thier original location. Interesting.

You could also add a chance that they indeed dissapear forever (die in the wastes, or whatever),

You could also also have "dismiss forever" option wherein they always dissapear forever. (like dismissing NPCs in Wasteland 1)

Thanks for inspiration for a new feature! :salute:
