A few times in the past, GOG has made it possible to register certain games you own on Steam so that the same game is added to your GOG library as well.

I really hope this will be the case for the newly released Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, because I can't afford to re-buy them; but good god Games For Windows Live is making the Steam versions hard to play.

yeah, actually, they made the game unplayable after you bought it (windows live).

I agree, they should GIVE it to you if you own it on steam because of that, but we both know that greed outweighs the good.

if it actually runs right it is a fantastic game.

The flaws imposed by games for windows made me play alot more Fallout 3 than i got to play of new vegas.
sell you something and then control it to death, typical Microsoft tactic.

Saying GOG should give you the games for free because of problems with Steam makes no sense.
It is like buying a rotten apple at one store, then going into another store not owned by the same buy and demanding a freash apple.....

well, look at it this way, you pay for the rights (liscense) to use the software, and then they disable it, through lack of upkeep, then put it out through a different vendor.. that's not right is it?

Your Steam copy hasn't been "disabled". Games for Windows Live can be stripped out via a well known mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1086

If it's the Windows 7+ compatibility issues you're talking about, Bethesda and GOG haven't fixed that any more than you could do yourself with a few INI tweaks.

the mods do not always work right for all persons, i change machines about once a year, and i have had one machine that would run it right out of them all since then.

when you sell a end user license to use something and then make it unusable without 3rd party stuff, then you kind of owe those people too really huh?

truth is bethesda just basically dropped the ball on Fall Out New Vegas, and it is a shame that they worried so much about elder scrolls and getting the next title out rather than make this one run better, this was such a great game, really, beats the hell out of Skyrim IMO.

It was GOG's idea to do Connect. They didn't have to do it. They chose to do it as its good business to draw customers to your business. It might get some Steam customers to buy on GOG.

I was thrilled to get Saint's Row IV and Gat out of Hell both free since I purchased them on Steam. I even purchased Mighty Number 9 to show my support for their generosity.

I'd like to see this, but I'm not going to expect anything. I've already got all 3 of these games on Steam (same editions) so there is pretty much no chance I'll ever buy them here, but if given copies through Connect I'd gladly take them and play the GOG versions exclusively going forward.

Can you explain what is wrong with windows live? Does it delete game saves or something?

Stop being cheap and appreciate what GOG is trying to accomplish as a platform and as a company.

GOG fights an uphill battle with every release they put on their platform. Negotiating worldwide rights, leveraging fair cost of distribution and then making it DRM free on top of fixing Operating System compatibility issues.

A game (and to a larger extent a publishing studio) establishes a relationship on GOG and offers world renown and critical acclaim titles and the first thing people want to do is complain that they cost to much. Complain that they already purchased the game. Complain that it should be free because they own it on Steam (a competitor platform). My gosh I feel like I shouldn't be having to type this as its common 101 economics you learn in 6th grade.

So the Steam version is buggy and updates abandoned? The Steam version doesn't work properly on modern Windows and here comes GOG to the rescue. Bending over backwards to license and fix the game. And you don't think that is worth $20 to go into GOG's pocket (which really is only 30% of that)? They do sales, bundles, flash discounts so if $20 is too steep, wait and watch the GOG website. It will become more affordable in the future.

GOG has such a challenge being "the Other Steam" and I feel we should support them. Would anyone have thought Bethesda would have joined GOG's family a year or so ago? Now look, Fallout 3 is here. NEVER would I have thought that would have happened. It takes dollars to make that happen. GOG should not lose out on sales or cater to people wanting freebies because they were burned or disappointed by another distribution platform. If you don't like it, vote with your wallets.

I own Fallout 3 (with variants) five different ways (PC DVD/Xbox/Steam) and I added GOG's edition to the list. $9.99 for a DRM free, Steam free, OS compatible version. Well worth the investment and their time to do it, was worth my $10. For me, the price of the other Bethesda titles is a bit high for my interest, but when the sale and time is right, they will get my dollars again. I am invested in GOG's success.

Stop being cheap. Wait for a deal. Support GOG.
