(To preface this, I'm running Fallout 1 with the latest unofficial patch, the NPC mod and the high resolution patch)

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but the green forcefields in the military base go up randomly, despite the fact that I disabled them via the computer on level 1. Going back to said computer after the forcefields go up does nothing, as using the computer just puts out a generic "You see: Computer" message. Even repairing the forcefield emitters to temporarily disable them doesn't work either, as the forcefield is still up afterward, thus making the military base impossible to complete. Am I missing something or is it definitely bugged?

You need a higher repair skill to be able to disable them permanently

You can also use a radio on the computer to act as a toggle for the forcefields
Somewhere outside the building you can turn off the power supply.

EDIT: You can't, I confused it with FO2.

Really?

I am going to look for that next time
Wouldn't mind being told a little more about that myself. Been playing for a decade and never noticed.
Sorry, you can't turn it off. I confused it with Fallout2.
You could try dropping one of the explosives close to the force field emitter. The explosion should take out the emitter, disabling the force field. It might, however, not work for every single emitter, as I think I remember occassionally not being able to blow up certain emitters no matter how close I placed the explosives. Though it should be able to finish the military base this way.
