I got into fallout because I played it when I was a kid and I recently played Fallout 3.
Fallout is of course ancient compared to the latest installement. But one thing that you shoud know is it takes a little more patience to get into this game. It took me a few hours before the story actually started to intrest me.
Game play is classic turn-based RPG so if you don't have the patience for it you might want to move on, especially since your turns are also used to move closer to your enemy.
This probably seems like I saw nothing good in the game but there were some positive things. The story is what kept me playing. Fallout has a certain style when it comes to storyline that's appearant even in the 3rd one. The towns each have unique feel to them with characters that seem like they're straight from Mad Max or Judge Dredd which I thought was a good thing.
In closing the only thing that really bugged me was the slow pace of gameplay and the length it took to get the ball rolling in the story. But in the game's defense I'm not a big RPG fan. If I didn't like the storylines in Final Fantasy I probaby would never pick them up.
