I was playing Tactics, and doing fine at it, but have some confusion on how cover works. Obviously the difference stances affect cover. But can you hide behind barrels, waist high walls, etc? I'm thinking of modern X-Com or Shadowrun Returns style cover. There's really no indication that one place is better than another. It makes me wonder if you're either seen or unseen, and there's no such thing as object cover.

The engine seems to use altitude and objects in between the shooter and the target to calculate the hit probability. If you're lying on higher ground, you're very hard to hit from below and if you crouch behind objects you're harder to hit as well. The cover factor decreases if you stand up and expose more of your body.

According to this wikia article low cover only affects if you use low stance.
