Hey all! Please visit this thread for more up-to-date information: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/fallout_4_nextgen_update_is_coming_but_will_likely_be_slightly_delayed.

Right now, I can't unfortunately give you anything concrete.

The update proved to be more difficult than expected but we're determined to make it happen. We're actively working with Bethesda to bring it here. No ETA to give you though :/

Salutations!

Hope you’re all doing well so far this week :)

Just sharing the current status of the Fallout 4 Next Gen update.

First of all, rest assured that both Bethesda and GOG teams are working on delivering the DRM-free version of this update as soon as possible.

However, we heard the feedback from the gaming community about the said update, that while bringing many useful improvements and additions, it sadly renders a tremendous amount of amazing mods unusable.

TLDR: We are considering freezing our build of Fallout 4 to provide the modding community with the necessary time to make their mods compatible with the last update.

The updated build, once greenlighted by both Bethesda and GOG, would be available via our GOG Galaxy beta branch system -and as an offline patch- to allow you to enjoy your modded version until you consider that the time is right.

Let us know your thoughts, wish you all a pleasant week.

Worm regards,

Virgile

TheOfficialMrBlah: Is there any (good) news?

Status reports from time to time would also be very nice if you have to wait months...

Is the update still being worked on at all?
Hello! Yes, we are still working on bringing the update to us. Right now however it's on Bethesda's side. We might have to wait a few weeks more, unfortunately, but the update may have more improvements than it has right now.

kenrap: I got a question if you don't mind answering. Is it because we're waiting on Bethesda to release a more thoroughly debugged and well tested patch update before GOG accepts it? Are they just trying to be more careful about it in order to create less unhappiness with the overall gaming experience and FO4 community?

The reason I'm asking this is because I think it should be explicitly said what Bethesda's intent is to remove all doubt.
Overall, yes, it's about having an issue-free version of the patch that does not cause more trouble than adds improvements. I'm not a person with huge technical knowledge, but making this happen proves more complex than we initially thought in this particular case. I'm sorry that you have to wait.
