Hey guys, I've been having trouble getting fallout 3 to work. I've gotten a new laptop (windows 10), and installed fallout 3, and went to play it for the first time on my new laptop today, and can't even get the game to the menu.

When I launch the game from the GOG client, I get a few seconds in to the starting short but it crashes immediately.
When I launch from the actual fallout3.exe file, I am told both "The program can't start because libvorbisfile.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem", AND "The program can't start because binkw32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I have checked the game files and they are both there, labelled as "libvorbisfile.dll.download" and "binkw32.dll.download". I'm not very tech savvy so I thought removing the .download part from the file names (leaving them as just "libvorbisfile.dll" and "binkw32.dll" respectively) might solve it, but I just got the same issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Fallout 3 twice, and still no luck.

Sorry if I didn't explain that well. Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Something sounds like it didn't install right. There shouldn't be a .download after those files. Are you installing from Galaxy, or from the Gog website?

Thanks for replying. I'm installing from galaxy
Edit: I just tried installing it again from galaxy and it actually worked this time, I'm not sure what changed but the files are no longer .dll.download. Thank you for your help!
