So I did a fair bit of looking around and I can say that deleting the Fallout.ini file and then launching manually from my computers hard drive does work, I can play fallout 3 no problems.

My question is if I try and launch fallout 3 from the GOG galaxy launcher the game just crashes and won't run. Even manually launching it from my computer won't work unless I delete my fallout.ini file again.

I checked and noticed that GOG galaxy seems to delete the fallout3.ini file I used when launching manually,
It replaces it with a modified version that has almost no information written in the fallout3.ini file.

Is there a reason for this happening?

if it helps I am running a

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz

32GB of ram

windows 10 64bit

Gigabyte RTX 3080 10GB
Welp after exploring every fix thrown my way it turns out deleting the fallout.ini solved the problem.

Thanks!

It seems GOG replaced Fallout.ini with FALLOUT.ini in my case, and it still loads up fine. Some weird stuff going on with this game.

Sorry I can't help you, but just wanted to thank you for helping me out accidentally.

No worries lol glad I could help indirectly

and MolhodeSoja, Yes that was my only solution. Just avoid using the GOG launcher and manually launch FO3 or use FOSE launcher

The solution is an Intel bypass mod that has worked for me after considerable headaches on Windows 11.

You need to unzip and paste 2 files and it should work after that.
